These
are the clippings about the fate of the antiwar opera, Lysistrata &
the War, by Bob Fink, a student in 1968 at Wayne State University.
The opera was originally written as an anti-war opera some years earlier
than this time, and was updated in 1967 to become a satire and protest
of the Vietnam War.
It was to be performed by the Wayne State University
Opera Workshop in 1968.
The first picture shows the headlines of the clips. One
is from the South End, the student campus newspaper, titled Ear
Strains, Comic Opera Too Serious? written by the composer of the
opera.
Below that is a blow-up so the text of the clip can be
read, from the Fifth Estate, a community paper at the time, which
printed the news release on the cancellation, and similar to the campus
paper article.
